1. Who we are
FifthStar is a one-person business run by Ethan Li, providing Google Business Profile care, website care and related services to UK small businesses. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

FifthStar is a sole trader (not a limited company), trading as "FifthStar" and run by Ethan Li. Our business address is Hongdong County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, China. We are currently completing our registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under the UK data-protection fee; the registration reference will be added here once issued.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need to reply to you and deliver a service you've asked for:
- Enquiry details — your name, business name (optional), email, phone (optional) and message, sent through the contact form or by email.
- Client account data — the details needed to run a Care Plan you've subscribed to (e.g. your Google Business Profile link, business info, the replies/posts we manage on your behalf).
- Website analytics — if we run privacy-friendly analytics, we collect anonymous, aggregated visit data (pages viewed, country, device type). This is not used to identify you.
3. How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and have a real conversation.
- To provide the Care Plan or service you've signed up for.
- To send service emails (e.g. a monthly Care report) if you're a client.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages help visitors — so we can improve the site.
4. The legal basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on:
- Consent — for analytics cookies, where used (you can decline).
- Legitimate interests — to reply to enquiries and run services you've requested.
- Contract — to deliver a Care Plan you've paid for.
5. Who we share it with
We keep your data close. We use a small number of processors who help deliver the service:
- Web3Forms (the contact form) — receives your enquiry and forwards it to our inbox via their form‑to‑email service.
- Google Fonts — serves the typography you see; no personal data is shared beyond what the browser normally sends.
- Google / Facebook / WhatsApp — only the profiles or channels you connect us to for a Care Plan.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising.
6. How long we keep it
Enquiry data is kept until the conversation ends, then deleted within 12 months unless you become a client. Client data is kept for the life of the contract plus a reasonable wind-down period (up to 24 months) for accounts and tax. You can ask us to delete it sooner — see your rights below.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can: ask what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to processing, or take your complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Email hello@thefifthstar.site and we'll act within 30 days.
8. Cookies & analytics
This site is built to need as few cookies as possible. We have prepared a Plausible Analytics loader in our shared script, but it is currently disabled (ANALYTICS: false). Plausible is cookieless, does not collect personal identifiers, and does not track you across other websites. We will only enable it after registering our domain at plausible.io, and we will never load advertising or cross-site trackers.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Big changes will be flagged on the site or by email to clients.
